“Light and Jerusalem”

Jerusalem as a Space of Spirit, Memory and Color in Yossi Biton's Paintings

Jerusalem artist Yossi Biton creates a body of work identified with Jerusalem, its landscapes and its spirit. Although he was born in Safed, a city with a rich artistic tradition, he chose to link his work to Jerusalem, which became his main source of inspiration. His works reflect the symbols of the city – the Western Wall, the stone alleys, the changing light of the Jerusalem Hills, and ultra-Orthodox and traditional figures praying – not only as realistic documentation, but as an expression of a deep spiritual and emotional experience.
