“Under Ground” / Nadav Weissman
The “Under Ground” installation was created in 2021 for the Dana Art Gallery on Kibbutz Yad Mordechai. To a great extent, the gallery’s location, only four kilometers from the Gaza Strip, dictated the subject of this work, created by multidisciplinary artist, Nadav Weissman. He chose to create a complex installation of a relief running around the whole gallery space, encasing an image of a geographical and mental landscape. The piece is constructed of multilayered birch planks creating a panoramic image that resembles a topographical map of the heart of the desert with spaces and caves that remind one of internal organs such as the womb, lungs, heart and arteries. The ground vibrates with activity beneath the surface and what is hidden seems greater than what is visible.
The exhibition is displayed in the Agam lounge
